Tracking, monitoring and evaluating impact is not a challenge unique to scholarly publishing. In this session invited speakers from will give us a different take on the concepts that led to the formation of ‘altmetrics’.

Bobby Duffy, Managing Director, Ipsos Mori Social Research Institute

Bobby Duffy is the Managing Director of the Ipsos MORI Social Research Institute and Global Director of Ipsos Social Research Institute. He leads a team of around 200 researchers in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast.

He set up and ran Ipsos MORI’s Research Methods Centre, and his methodological development work has included two papers short-listed for paper of the year in the Market Research Society’s journal. He was named one of the top 10 thought leaders in local government by the Local Government Chronicle in 2011.

Bobby is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at King’s College London and is a trustee for the LankellyChase Foundation.

Tim Barker, Chief Product Officer, DataSift

Tim serves as Chief Product Officer for DataSift, focusing on product and market strategy. DataSift is the world’s largest provider of social data to brands, agencies, and analytics companies. Tim has 20+ years experience in the Enterprise Software market, spanning CRM, social collaboration and content management. Tim joined DataSift from Salesforce where he served as VP Marketing EMEA. He has founded 3 successful startups, most recently Koral, a content collaboration startup which was acquired by Salesforce in 2007.
